The SLEEK Team's Favourite Spreads from Our New Issue

Grace Banks (Editor in Chief)

Melina Matsoukas

“Melina has been behind some of the most important visual culture moments of the last decade — including Beyoncé’s Formation video, which she directed. It’s a pleasure to honour her work in this brilliant interview by Lynette Nylander. Plus, I think we can all agree she looks completely amazing in these portraits by Daniel Regan.”

Kito Muñoz for Menswear

“Kito Muñoz was a force from the moment we were in touch, his energy is truly genuine and you can see it on the pages of this issue. Getting the final images back made me so glad we trusted him and his team, Daniel Del Valle and Ana Murillas, to deliver such an exciting shoot for us. They have taken us right back to the best bits of the 2000s, all squeezed into a tight animal print corner for our enjoyment. Commissioning stories like this is what makes my job so good!”

Lorena Maza (Fashion Editor)

Carlota Guerrero for Cabinet

“This was my favourite story to work on — not only meeting Carlota and Olga in Havana, but also the transgender women whose stories we wanted to tell. Coming back from the trip was like coming home with bags full of love, gratitude and inspiration. The images are so strong, and the story so powerful, it opened my eyes to what’s going on on the other side of the world.”

Chanel Special

“I absolutely loved working on the Chanel Special for this issue. We took the Hamburg-inspired collection back to its roots and shot the story in the industrial shipping yard of the city. Even though it was freezing and storming all day, we had an amazing time producing this editorial. Big props to our beautiful model Zoe and photographer Jakob Landvik for withstanding the typical Hamburg weather for 8 long hours shooting in the rain.”

Prue Stent and Honey Long

“I’ve been following Melbourne-based artistic duo Prue Stent and Honey Long for a while now and jumped at the chance to be able to interview them. Their work is so ethereal and unique and I love the way they play with the oddities of texture and address the female body as performative.”
