Photography is often associated with impressive cameras, complex equipment and the technical mastery behind crafting a high-quality image. But the true art of photography lies elsewhere. Not in the machinery, but in the singular moment an artist chooses to capture. A photograph is, at its core, a fragment of time suspended forever. It allows us to return to a feeling, a detail, or a fleeting expression long after the moment itself has passed. This ability to “freeze time” with intention is something Yoni Karako has refined with exceptional sensitivity.
Last Friday, we opened Yoni’s new exhibition ALIENAT(H)E(A)D at SLEEK ART SPACE, Alexanderstr. 7, 10178 Berlin. The show presents a deeply personal body of work shaped by his lived experience. Born with craniosynostosis, Yoni grew up with a visibly distinctive head shape. Childhood surgeries, curious stares and an acute awareness of angles profoundly influenced how he perceives the world.
In his images, the ground often disappears by design. Subjects hover, untethered, inviting viewers into a perspective where orientation shifts and new beauty emerges. A face may appear familiar from one angle and extraordinary from another. Yoni inhabits precisely this in-between space, exploring how we see, how we are seen and how identity forms in the interplay between the two.

And his special gift is definitely appreciated. The exhibition launch drew a vibrant crowd to SLEEK ART SPACE. Creative minds, collectors, industry figures, and cultural enthusiasts came together to celebrate Yoni’s pieces and connect over art. Everyone was intrigued by the visual communication of Yoni’s imagery. Thoughtful conversations unfolded throughout the evening, and the contagious energy that only true artistic exchange can spark was unmistakable.
ALIENAT(H)E(A)D marks not only an important milestone in Yoni’s artistic journey but also an exciting new chapter for SLEEK ART SPACE as we continue to support voices that challenge, expand and give us a new perspective on the world and its beautiful details.
