As the sun was going down last Friday evening, Sleek Art hosted an “experimental” champagne reception provided by Clicquot Rich. The event took place in the sophisticated barber salon “Gentlemen’s Circle” which recently opened its doors to the discerning dapper gents of Berlin’s Charlottenstrasse.
The evening’s complimentary cigars and refreshments shone alongside three provocative high-end fashion photographs by Maxime Ballesteros. The photos made an apt addition to the Doux champagne company, which is paving the way in innovative new drinking rituals. Each cocktail was prepared in a deep spherical glass replacing the classic champagne flute. This important element enabled the champagne’s light, summery freshness to evolve and mitigate its sweetness with intoxicating smells.
Four champagne cocktails were on offer to the VIP attendees of the Gentlemen’s Circle. The Black Tea cocktail, with its fresh earl grey leaves infused with smoky citrus-bergamot was strained through a fine sieve and encouraged to slowly mix with the champagne. The Paprika blend consisted of spicy strips of red, green and yellow peppers complemented the champagne’s soft, creaminess. Meanwhile, the grapefruit cocktail comprised of acidity and zesty bitterness in order to cut through the sweetness and set off its citrus notes. A cucumber-inspired fizz rounded out the selection. All in all, a sophisticated collection of cocktails for the discerning customer of the Gentleman’s Circle.
