Sleek x mb! By Mercedes-Benz: Meeting Ana Rajcevic

Ana Rajcevic blurs the line between man and beast, between art and fashion, between architecture and sculpture. The 29-year-old’s wearable sculptures are challenging, disturbing yet beautiful. “It’s all about boundaries in humans and animals. I like playing with the idea that we are not animals or maybe that we are. I prefer questioning within my work than coming up with answers.”

Her East London studio seemingly has little to do with a fashion studio. There is a scent of chemicals and plaster, paint splatters and neither scissor, fabric or pins in sight. Rajcevic, originally from Belgrade, spent a whole year in London’s Natural History Museum to explore animal anatomy and bone structures that inspired her fiberglass, resin and silicone rubber headpieces. “I love playing with the notions of beauty. What is defined as being beautiful today? Can something disturbing be beautiful?”
