Sleek x mb! by Mercedes-Benz: The road back to Berlin

Four days, four studios, three countries, tons of Wiener Schnitzel and hundreds of kilometers later our search came to an end with only the journey in our Mercedes-Benz E 500 Coupé back to Berlin remaining.

In collaboration with mb! Magazine we had headed out to three cities that were surely to host creative, boundary-blurring and exciting art talents: in Leipzig’s Spinnerei former cotton factory we met Claudia Biehne whose work with porcelain continues to prove that it’s not just a material found in the form of dishes but in contemporary art objects. In Prague Katerina Vorlova involved us in an ongoing debate around jewellery and its function in the context of space, body and object. In Vienna, where we learnt that conservative meets trashy, graphic designer and photographer Katarina Šoškic talked us through the distinctions of art and design and her plans to use her camera to explore the unknown immigrant areas of Vienna. Viennese model-turned-photographer Hanna Putz proved with her work that asking questions with one’s art can be more satisfying than presenting answers. “The Search Part III” brought us feeling as inspired as ever, having explored stimulating cities through the eyes of equally stimulating artists. The Search might be over for 2013 but who knows about next year – watch this space for more information.
