Solange Knowles
With the new extended Tate Modern opening in less than two weeks, it comes as no surprise that the upper echelon of the art world is contributing works and pieces to laud the transformation of the famed London art museum. Exactly who would take part however, has been anyone’s guess. Enter: Solange Knowles, who posted a sneak peek on her Instagram of a new performance piece she was creating exclusively for the Tate.
The clip exhibited multiple women in baby blue leotards gracefully climbing out of an open cage and swaying in unison. We can only wonder what the results will be, but knowing Knowles, it’s sure to make waves.
This is not the first time Solange has combined her performance skills within the art world. Back in 2013 she performed at Better Days, an art bar installation during Art Basel as part of a collaboration with Absolut Art Bureau. And despite the fact that the Tate opened “The Tanks”, a space dedicated exclusively to performance art, this is definitely a new and exciting direction for both parts.
Watch below the sneak preview of Solange’s performance.
