Young menswear label SOPOPULAR’s studio show at the tent – the first official Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week appearance for the Berlin brand – was indeed a popular event, not only amongst the city’s swarm of male fashion bloggers.
The EBM inspired looks seen on fashion conscious guys these days were toned down in the versatile collection, making the subculture giveaway more understated and certainly more appealing. An overactive smoke machine and blue light gave the presentation a clubby atmosphere, which is not to say that the smart and edgy getups can’t be worn at daytime.
Grey, blue and lots of black made up the colour palette, while cropped suit shorts and braces gave some of the total looks the industrial music scene touch. If you need to find something to wear to a dinner with your parents AND a KMFDM concert, SOPOPULAR is your brand.
