Stefano Pilati made waves last year when he renounced the luxury industries of Paris and Milan to form his own label, Random Identities, in the heart of Germany’s “poor but sexy” capital. The collection, which launched with SSENSE and Dover Street Market, features more buttoned-up looks that show off the former Yves Saint Laurent and Zegna head’s tailoring credentials.
In his latest offering, he shows off clean lines in the classic black that is a staple of Berlin streets and closets. “I did the collection in black: essential, effective and as the last conservative way to not compromise the rigorous formality of wearing ‘no-colour’ during the wintertime,” Pilati says in his introduction to the collection.
Among the suited structures, Random Identities still plays with gender fluidity, expressed in higher waistlines, skirts, bra-print pyjama tops and the brand’s signature 3.5-inch heeled R.I. worker boots, which according to Pilati, “complete the silhouettes”.
