Nike SB and Polaroid are celebrating the launch of sneaker collaboration Nike SB Dunk Low Pro Polaroid, with an exclusive photo exhibition at the former art gallery, now a cultural hub for all things skate: Civilist Berlin.
Paying homage to Berlin’s skate community, Berlin-born-and-raised Steffen Grap’s most recent Polaroid exhibition From This World to the Next celebrates the richness of the subculture through portraits of today’s faces of the scene; from the likes of director and videographer Paul Herrmann and DJ Producer Kolegajj are featured, as well as professional skateboarder Johannes Schirrmeister. Since the age of thirteen, Steffen has been exploring the streets of Berlin with just a skateboard and a camera. This early relationship with the skate scene, and those involved within it, has been a huge influence for the young photographer whose recognisable style sees photos creatively collaged together to build a bigger picture of not just his memories; but the wider landscape of Berlin’s skate scene.

The exhibition showcases a curated selection of the Berliner’s decade-long archive of Polaroids and analogue images shot while growing up in and amongst the city’s skate community and through the process of deconstruction and collaging, From This World to The Next offers an intimate look into Grap’s perspective as he plays creatively with his memories while touching upon the evolution of Berlin’s skate scene and its continuing relevance within an ever-changing landscape.
