Karlsruhe, the German city known worldwide as a hub for science and technology, is once again placing itself on the global art map with its very own art fair, Art Karlsruhe.
Opening next Thursday, 13th March, Art Karlsruhe 2014 will cover an area of roughly 35,000 m2 which will be filled with 200 one artist shows and 20 sculpture specific zones, featuring artists from around the world working within a wide spectrum of mediums. This year the fair boasts a simple and clear layout, with each hall being assigned a different theme, making the atmosphere of the fair flow with ease and removing any chance of distraction from the works.
Sculpture is the fair’s shining star this year, with curator Ewald Karl Schrade creating “islands of calm” within the fair, acting as the perfect stage for dazzling large-scale art. As well as the fair’s impressive artist list, the fair also boasts an incredible line up of speakers and interviews with leading figures in the art world ranging from Staatsgalerie Stuttgart director Christiane Lange to painter Bernd Zimmer, as well as critic Roger M. Buergel.
Now on its eleventh edition, Art Karlsruhe has officially arrived on the international art fair world.
