ATTENTION: all sneakerheads – ASICS has teamed up with outerwear brand KASSL Editions to create 30 exclusive pairs of GEL-1090 sneakers. In order to get your hands on one of the sought-after sneakers, all you need to do is enter an online raffle, taking place until tomorrow (29th of January 2022)! All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to Mind Charity, an organisation focussing on mental health, by END.
Continuing the ASICS “Crafts for Minds” program, the brand is reinforcing the spirit of craftsmanship and the attention to detail and purpose of the shoe. Creating products with meaning and purpose is at the heart of the collaboration. For the visual outlook, KASSL Editions have spun a new twist on the classic design of the GEL-1090 by putting a puckered protective sheath on its signature oil fabric, tied together at the sole with a hand-applied PU rubber drip. Reduced to the essential, whilst appreciating the brand’s roots in European contemporary art, KASSL Editions has decided to bring the shoes only in white and green on the market.
The shoe is loved by many, especially by top model and mindfulness and compassion meditation teacher Hannelore Knuts. “The events of the past two years have given me the opportunity to look inside myself. Old perspectives got a makeover and new insights came to the surface. I wanted to mark that ongoing journey by walking through my wardrobe and bring everything into a fresh new light. I hope the results raise a smile.’’, she states.
Taking care of our mental health is equally important as taking care of our physical health. “We are so grateful to ASICS for their support through the Crafts for Mind activity. We believe that the sports sector has an important role to play in emphasising the link between physical activity and good mental health. The funds and awareness generated through this activity will enable us to continue to provide advice, information and support so that no one has to face a mental health problem alone” says Emma Ihsan, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Mind. Moving forward, ASICS SportStyle will extend their unique activation in London with another local artist next month.
