You can imagine TOURIST to be much more than a global community platform, setting its first priority to create a sense of genuine belonging and support. Like a galaxy consisting of billions of stars that exist in an interconnected system where each individual holds their own range of skills, the upcoming sound and art installation FUTURO13 literally invites you into their cosmos in one of the remaining UFOs in Berlin.

Acting as a space for connecting cultural movers, TOURIST raises the question of what creative communities will look like in the future. As far as the answers can reach in this field of uncertainty and pondering, the UFO unites each Tourist’s artistic perspective on the future. Just like the Tourists, who are gathering with the belief in shared values, the UFOs of FUTURO13 acted as a reaction to the post-war era to restore the sense of coming together for a collective vision. Designed by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen in the late ’60s, the UFO, which is one of a few ones that is left, can only be accessed by a small shuttle boat. Even before stepping into the UFO, the experience is accompanied by immersive sound offerings by the co-hosters MONOM, a Berlin-based sound studio, and co-curated by William Russel and Alessandra Denegri to ensure you a mesmeric trip to space. Upon entering the historical artifact of the past that will transmit you into the future, the sound of a ufo taking off created by sound designers Spekki Webu and Harald Uunk will welcome you into space.

The centerpiece of the installation is the Zenomorph Chair by the interdisciplinary creative studio Sucuk&Bratwurst, also marking the debut of their first furniture design. With its distinctive silhouette, the chair pays homage to the alien head shape and acts as a continuation of their collection of extraterrestrial objects. Intensifying the otherworldy experience, the chair is surrounded by a Martian, un-earthly set design by Tatiana Makrinova and Elis Ollero, while the serene light design by the artistic platform HLXR founders Timur Novikov and Maximiliano Fried creates an eerie atmosphere. On two evenings on May 12 and 13, visitors are invited to be immersed in the cosmic experience which is creatively produced by TOURIST founder Sera and artistically directed by Denis Olgac.
