This February saw the Berlin International Film Festival celebrate its 70th birthday. Although many established stars graced the red carpet at Berlinale Palast, the Rolf Benz-designed Audi Berlinale Lounge provided a tranquil setting away from the hustle and bustle for three of this year’s most promising up and coming acting talent. Bartosz Bielenia, Martina Apostolova and Jonas Dassler were three emerging talents for European Shooting Stars this year who took a breather in the mid-century inspired setting.
Starring as the lead of the Oscar nominated Corpus Christi (2019), Polish actor Bartosz Bielenia portrays a prisoner looking for purpose, who finds his way into priesthood. Exploring the blurring of lines between good and evil, the film secured Bielenia an award for Most Promising Young Actor in his native country’s Youth Film Festival. Joining Bielenia in the lounge, was Bulgarian actress Martina Apostolova, who recently starred in Irina (2018) as a part-time waitress who turns to surrogate motherhood to stay financially afloat. The performance earned her the Best Actress award at the Cottbus Eastern European Film Festival. And last but by no means least in the lounge, was award-winning Bavarian actor Jonas Dassler, who rose to prominence as the lead of The Golden Glove (2019). The film is a crime drama based on the chilling, true story of a serial killer played by Dassler, who resided in Hamburg in the ‘70s. To celebrate their selection as European Shooting Stars, the three actors were photographed in the plush, modern lounge, decked out in the latest in sustainable fashion looks.
