Want to raise awareness for environmental causes but don’t feel like campaigning in the cold or calling up strangers? Have no fear as fashion mogul turned activist Vivienne Westwood is hosting a club night at Fabric!
Uninspired by altruistic causes? Well, legendary acid house DJ A Guy Called Gerald — best known for Madchester anthem “Voodoo Ray” — is on the decks. The event is on 20 February and tickets are priced at £12, with Vivienne Westwood stating on the page of the event:
“There is one truly political act you can make as an individual or a group – Switch to GREEN ENERGY. Stop the demand for burning fossil fuels and further fracking and make choices that stop climate change.”
This follows a long line of events Vivienne Westwood has hosted in order to save the planet, thus certifying the grand dame of the fashion world as much of a legendary campaigner as an innovative designer. As well as music there will also be talks by Ecotricity CEO Dale Vince and Vivienne herself.

Clubbing Sustainably?
If you believe that there is something of a paradox in a club night which burns up a lot of energy, being used to promote sustainability, there’s no need to worry as ethical events company The Bulb are hosting the event. Their mission statement claims that: “The Bulb is a creative agency that produces events that are good for people, the economy and the planet. We deliver cool events that don’t hurt the environment.”
The theme is Mad Max, so ladies please shave your heads and guys attach a grill to your face. Here is your chance to campaign for the environment, one sick bass drop at a time.
