Yesterday, SLEEK attended the launch event for Sophie Passmann’s new book “Wie kann sie nur?” (“How Dare She?”). A sharp and witty reflection on the everyday absurdities of being a woman on the internet. Held at Bar Basta, the evening unfolded as a celebration of the book’s central theme.
Passmann appeared in a “complex female character” T-shirt for her speech, setting the tone for a night that balanced humor and critique. Guests moved between drag performances, DJ sets, tarot readings and touch-ups at the MAC beauty station, turning the book launch into a lively, self-aware commentary on the spectacle of femininity itself.
At the center of the room stood an oversized version of the book, transformed into a press wall with the bold title Wie kann sie nur? (How Dare She?) – a phrase that perfectly captures the cultural reflex Passmann dissects: the impulse to judge women the moment they become visible. The party and book launch were a great success, and we congratulate Sophie Passmann on the release of her new book.
