Despite everything that mankind has built on earth, it appears as though we can never get enough of nature. At the earliest given opportunity, many city dwellers seek refuge in the natural world to remedy the draining facets of their urban lives. When temperatures soar the necessity to escape becomes increasingly urgent: tempers flare up, traffic slows to a halt and beads of sweat begin to trickle. Munich-based photographer, Quirin Siegert took to a secluded lake to capture the essence of a tranquil retreat. The subject of Siegert’s photoseries trades the noise, crowds and scorching heat for boundless blue water and tufts of luscious grass. Beyond the few ripples that she sets off whilst stepping into the water, she appears alone and at peace. In the distance, mountain peaks are visible, serving as a reminder that nature has an unending amount of beauty still to be explored.
