Berliner Modewoche AW16 came to an end yesterday. With a multitude of runway shows, trade shows and showrooms, and powered by Mercedes-Benz, the event is still going strong. BFW might live in the shadows of its counterparts in London or Paris but with the launch of the Fashion Council Germany last year that could soon change. See below our second and last roundup of shows featuring collections from Louise Friedlaender, William Fan and Xavi Reyes.

Louise Friedlaender The collection named after the 1965 song “As Tears Go By” evolved around the motif of overcoming grief with one’s head high – Friedlaender introduced elongated silhouettes in the noble autumnal colours of rusty red, dark green and orange. Most of the outfits were embellished with the tear-shaped cutouts or accompanied by accessories in the tear-shape.

William Fan Tassels; tassels everywhere! William Fan’s collection was playful and yet profound – with the thoughtful details and the heavy Moroccan-made bijoux. The Asian motives – a continuous source of inspiration to William – was expressed both in the streamlined silhouettes and a couple of red neon Chinese characters that decorated the runway. The latter – hua li – means wonderful and isn’t it just.
