As fashion month kicks off on Thursday (that’s a week in New York, followed by London, Milan and finally Paris), we highlight the unmissable moments you need to pencil into your diary now.
1. Anthony Vaccarello’s YSL Debut
The Italian-Belgian designer has put his own label on hold to focus his creative efforts on the 55-year-old Maison. Since controversially wiping the brand’s Instagram account, we are waiting with bated breath to see how he takes over from Hedi Slimane.
2. Battle of the Italians
What will Miuccia Prada do to try to win back the title as the hottest ticket in Milan from Gucci? After exclusively being the favourite show of the fashion editor, Prada has stepped aside for show-pony-of-the-moment, Alessandro Michele. Will it last? We are excited.
3. Style Stalking
We can’t wait to see what German model-turned-fashion editor, Veronika Heilbrunner, will be snapped wearing as she darts between shows.
4. Fast Fashion
Berlin-based brand, Ferrari Concept, will be showing for a second season in Paris. Judging by last season’s strip club-located launch, we reckon this will be one of the most fun presentations the French capital has to offer.

5. Unexpected After parties
For the past two seasons, under-the-radar menswear brand Telfar has hosted FOMO-inducing parties, inside branches of NY fast-food chain White Castle. Will this season’s wildest London Fashion Week party be in Chicken Cottage?

What will Rihanna’s favourite designer New York-based Adam Selman have in store, and what will the stylish singer wear to his show the season?
7. Fresh Blood
We fell for Paula Knorr’s new notion of sexy when we came across her amazing wet-look leather garments. The German-born designer will show for the first time at London Fashion Week, where she is bound to be a new favourite with fashion editors – we called it first.

10. Milan’s Mystery Finale
Giorgio Armani has decided not to close Milan Fashion Week this season, preferring to show earlier in the schedule in order to avoid clashes with Paris. “Why should I be the only (international label) to always close fashion week?” he said to WWD. Will a big brand take his place or an emerging designer?
11. Dior’s New Look
Dior Couture Chief Executive, Sidney Toledano told Business of Fashion to “Expect a new Dior” from the brand’s recently appointed Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri. The ex-Valentino designer will be the first-ever woman to lead the Parisian house.
12. Who’s That Girl?
New season, new girls-to-love. Who else is better to predict the next big thing than the bookers? IMG Models mainboard manager, Billy Thurlow says: “Look out for Marie Fofana und Danielle Gordon, it is the first full season doing runway for both girls. They are the amazing new talent to keep your eye on”. Kellydeene Skerritt who heads up the New Faces at Next Model Management has her money on American newcomer Impy and Miranda Nystrom from Sweden. Skerritt says “She is in the Saint Laurent campaign and is going to be a huge star”.
13. Menswear Mixup
This season, both Burberry and Bottega Veneta will present menswear and womenswear together in their SS17 shows for the first time. This could be the beginning of the end for gendered Fashion Weeks.
