Wekaforé x Daily Paper United by Heritage

For the creation of a unique range of clothing, the Barcelona-based African brand Wekaforé has teamed up with the online store Daily Paper. United by their heritage and their strive for a better future, they created a capsule collection. According to the two brands, the collection is a homage to the fellow Nigerian musician Fela Kuti. Kuti’s spirit and his unique sound inspired the two brands to do this thoughtful dedication.

Inspired by his African upbringing and heritage, Maniu Jibril founded the hyper-creative brand Wekaforé. The Lagos born designer was born into a family of craftsmen, his father was an architect, his mother a tailor. His choice to become a fashion designer seems fitting – according to the designer himself, he started creating clothing when he was in school to make some pocket money on the side. His hobby turned into a feasible career when he made the move to Bilbao to attend a small design institute. Wekaforé is a product of passion, fuelled by the desire to be individual. Moreover, Jilbri is the brain behind the Voodoo Club and the frontman of the band “Egosex”.

Their collaboration partner, Daily Paper, another fellow Nigerian brand, is born out of a blog, managed by Hussein, Jefferson and Abderrahmane who shared a love and passion for music, fashion and culture. Whilst both brands are slowly growing into household names, they both share a stronghold of values, organic growth and the true support of their community.
