Wolfgang Tillmans has reentered the music industry after a 26-year pause with the release of his debut EP, “2016 / 1986”. The German artist has always had music as one of his passions and first experimented with music production in 1986. As an established photographer he has shot many pop starts including Damon Albarn, while a few years ago he installed three sets of work in Berlin’s Panorama Bar.
“2016 / 1986” contains two songs on its A-side, which he recorded in 2015/2016, whereas the B-side features three songs he recorded in 1986. The release has been received with great excitement and is expected to become one of the summer’s to watch for, well at least in Berlin where the artist is a revered pop culture icon and Berghain regular.
